Cable Locates Application Cable Locates for HCMS is an online service that helps protect underground Ministry-owned cables and infrastructure during construction, excavation, and maintenance work. Before digging begins, contractors and other authorized users can submit a locate request through the system to identify whether underground cables may be present in the work area. This helps prevent accidental damage to important infrastructure, reduces project delays, and improves safety for workers and the public.

As part of the Highway Corridor Management System (HCMS), the Cable Locates service brings together mapping, request management, and field documentation in one place. It allows users to track the status of locate requests, view relevant maps, and record information gathered during site visits. By making the locate process faster, more accurate, and easier to manage, the system helps ensure that road and infrastructure projects can be completed safely while protecting public assets and services.

How to start

Bring the ugly version. A deadline you don't believe, an app that demos well and converts badly, a service generating more complaints than applications, a program everyone agrees needs redesign, and nobody can picture. The first conversation costs nothing and often ends with a useful answer either way.
